Braille Battery is proud to sponsor the first MPG (Mile Per Gallon) challege in the 25 year history of the Cannonball Run “One Lap of America”. The goal of this challenge is to see just how efficent and “green” the race cars are when driven on the highways.
Along the One Lap of America there are many points earning race tracks sections and passage controls (time segments on open roads) the add up to determina the overall winner for the race.
A new passage control will be the Braille Battery MPG Challenge where all teams will stop at a predetermined gas station outside Daytona Racetrack, fill up and drive north on I-95 and fill up again. This contest is not for overall points but Braille Battery will provide a trophy for best mileage. A standard 50-point penalty will apply to those that do not stop at the second Riceboro, Georgia gas station. Both stations are on the way and should not inconvenience any teams by participating and the MPG numbers generated might be interesting.
As the entry list shows there are vintage race cars, muscle cars, hot rods, race ready imports and even a Honda Insight Hyrbid. These cars with the Braille Battery Hot Rod Hybrid should prove to provide an interesting twist to this classic race.
