Qualifying for round two at Road Atlanta was one of the toughest yet. The track surface was 130 degrees, ambient temperatures were in the 90s and the temperature inside the car was 140. On our first qualifying run, we decided to be a little conservative and ended up with a score of 81.3 points which put us in the top ten. We decided to go for more speed and angle on our second run which yielded us the second fastest entry speed of 93.7 mph. We ended up qualifying our Genesis Coupe in fifth place.

In the round of 32, we were up against Cody Parkhouse. With a great lead run we pulled away giving us a big advantage. During the second run, we kept the pressure on him, which forced him into a spin in the horseshoe bend.

In the round 16, we were up against Darren McNamara. We again led on the first run, pulling ahead by a couple car lengths into the horseshoe bend. This may have given us a small advantage. On the next run, we knew we had to stay on him because he was only two mph slower than us entering into the first turn. When traveling at these speeds some incidental contact can occur and did.  This unfortunately put us out of competition. We are pleased to be in third place overall and only four points out of second. Once again the Red Bull/RMR/Hyundai Genesis Coupe performed flawlessly.

The next round will see us at Wall Speedway in New Jersey (June 4-5).  Leading up to this event we will prepare the Red Bull/RMR Hyundai Genesis Coupe, continue development of the Pikes Peak PM 580 powered by Hyundai and start testing for the 88th running of the Pikes Peak Hill Climb.
