Braille Sweeps World Challenge Weekend
WINNING CAR IN WORLD CHALLENGE SWEEPS WEEKEND AND IS POWERED BY A BRAILLE LITHIUM BATTERY
Sarasota, FL March 28th – Drivers from all over the country came to St. Petersburg Florida to kick off the 2011 race season. With a record crowd in attendance Belleair, FL native Patrick Long, put on a show for the World Challenge fans by capturing the Pole in his Truspeed Porsche GT3 then sweeping the weekend with both race wins.
The Truspeed Motorsports Race Team made the long journey from Costa Mesa, CA to St. Petersburg, FL with high hopes of putting their Porsche racecars up front and they did just that winning both races. Patrick Long driving the No. 45 Privacy Star/Entrust Porsche GT3 would start the weekend quick in practice then won the pole for race one. Long’s Porsche GT3 is started by a Braille Micro-Light Lithium Battery and is the latest technology in performance batteries. Long went on to sweep the weekend winning the doubleheader in World Challenge competition.
Long slipped past Sofranas in traffic with three laps to go to win the second race of the doubleheader weekend. “It came down to traffic. I mounted my charge with about eight to go and got up to his bumper,” said Long. “I waited for the right time to roll the dice and just take the opposite of whatever option he took. Because I had no pressure from behind, I could just wait for one of those factors to play out. It happened on the back straightaway and we could have gone side by side in the kink but he was to my right, which was outside, and he gave me plenty of room.”
This is only the second start for Patrick Long in World Challenge but has class wins in many other series from 24 Hours of Le Mans, Rolex 24, and American Le Mans. He also races part-time in the NASCAR Camping World Series.
