Suvanto Wins Usf2000 Championship With Braille Lithium Battery

Petri Suvanto driver of the No. 3 Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing Van Dieman-Mazda was on a mission to win his first North American National Championship and he did just that on the streets of Baltimore, Md. in front of a sold out crowd. Suvanto captured the Championship in the first of a two-race weekend by finishing second. The “Flying Finn” was in top form as he was fastest in practice and drove a conservative race to insure his championship win.
This was the inaugural race of the Baltimore Grand Prix and this sold out crowd was treated to a tremendous weekend of racing. This was the site of the last two rounds of USF2000 National Championship presented by Mazda series. Petri Suvanto driver of the No.3 Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing Van Dieman-Mazda entered the weekend with a 39-point advantage. The 18 year old from Nurmo, Finland was poised to capture the championship after winning five races, Four second-place finishes and one third.

Suvantanto’s championship win will be rewarded with at scholarship package from Mazda to advance to the Star Mazda Championship in 2012. USF2000 has proven to be a very import part of the progression of open wheel talent and has produced some of the sports most successful drivers including this years’ winner of the Indy 500 Dan Weldon.
